Brazilian mango: trends and challenges in international markets

Versión para imprimir
The Brazilian mango stands out in international markets thanks to its focus on quality and internationalization.
Facing challenges such as the need to produce tastier fruits for consumers, Brazil continues to expand its presence in key markets such as Europe, North America and Asia.

According to a producer from the São Francisco Valley, the push for fiber-free mangos, such as the Kent and Keitt varieties, together with the emphasis on quality and food safety, strengthens the position of the Brazilian mango in the international market.

Creating a native quality brand and boosting sales of fresh cut mango are priorities for Brazilian producers, who are also committed to sustainable environmental practices.

Additionally, the work of the National Mango Board in the United States has contributed to the growth of demand for mangoes in that country, thus supporting Brazil's success in the international market.

In figures, Brazilian mango exports reached a record in 2023, exceeding $315 million, with a 15% increase in export volumes, according to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services.

Almost 93% of exported mangoes originate from the São Francisco Valley, located in the Northeast region of Brazil. In particular, the states of Bahia and Pernambuco contribute approximately 47.36% and 45.42% of exports, respectively. In addition to these, other states such as São Paulo, Rio Grande do Norte and Ceará also contribute to the total exported volume.
