In many regions worldwide (Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Honduras, South Africa, Nicaragua and China) Don Limon works with more than 6000 people in field operations and packaging-house-processes, producing 9 main products: table grapes, limes, sweet potatoes, physalis, oranges, lemons, passion fruit, pomelos and ginger.

Met during Fruit Logistica 2018 Andreas Schindler, CEO Don Limon explains: “We not simply produce fruits and vegetables or do business purely for the business, we focus on social impact.  Our approach is based on the Sustainable Development Goals”. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

Don Limon is involved in agriculture production in emerging and developing countries along with governments, funding agencies, associations, universities and chambers of agriculture for a comprehensive development and invigoration entrepreneurship. At the center of the business model of Don Limon are smallholder farms. Don Limon combines the cultures of smallholders with the established standards of industrialized countries in training and quality management programs.

Today Don Limon realizes several projects: Feed the world 2050, DeveloPPP.de project for small-scale farmers of grapes in India, project in Mexico to support 500 smallholder farmers in the process of gaining access to the international fruit trade markets, Sweet potatoes against poverty in Honduras, environmental impact project expansion in Nicaragua, women empowerment in Guatemala. Employee is always first in Don Limon.

“My vision for the sustainable approach is that we have to care for people, for the environment, and for the economic growth in countries in which the situation is difficult,” Andreas continues. “Empowering the farmers through investments and new technical equipment, educating them through training centers that will expand their knowledge about pest control, water and energy usage, processing and packaging is the basic idea of the Don Limón approach”.
